OS Image Update
During the upgrade process, the Edge Device first backs up all relevant data, such as network configuration and certificates. After installing the new operating system image, it automatically restores the data.

Requirements
General | The Edge Device must be online. |
A new OS version must be available for the Edge Device. | |
Operator | If the Edge Device is not paired with an asset, any user with the Workshop Manager role can perform the update. |
If the Edge Device is paired with an asset, only users with the Workshop Manager role for that specific asset can perform the update. | |
Service Provider | The Edge Device must not be paired with an asset. If it is, only the Operator can perform the update. |
The user must have at least one of the following roles: Customer Data Manager or Service Technician. |
How to perform the Update
The Edge Device Details page displays the currently installed and the latest available OS version.

A dialog opens that informs you about the update and related downtime of the Edge Device.

After a while, the Edge Device will go offline. (Note that the status is only updated when you refresh the website.) | |
Once the update has been successful, the device will go online again and you will see that the latest OS version has been installed. (Note that the status is only updated when you refresh the website.) |

Via Cockpit
Connect to the Edge Device in your local network as described HERE.
Check for new Updates and install Image
Click on Advanced Settings in the left hand menu.
Under the OS Management panel, you will be able to check for new updates. In case of the availability of a newer version , the version number is displayed.
Install the latest version by clicking on .
Confirm the download and installation by clicking .
Once the Installation is done, the device should reboot automatically.
