Forward SMB Shares from GREEN to RED under Machine Name

Availability note: This feature is available starting with Edge Device OS version 25.11

Overview

This feature was created to simplify the use of SMB shares on machine HMIs or IPCs for technicians. The idea is to automatically mirror the machine name directly to the RED network, to which the technician´s PC is connected. This allows the shares to be accessed via the machine name directly in Windows Explorer.

User Settings

The feature is activated and configured via the Cockpit interface and can be found under “Advanced Settings”.

To set it up:

  • Set the WORKGROUP of your HMI or share.

  • Set the IP address of the HMI or share. Make sure the IP address is reachable and pingable.

  • Once set, click “Enable SMB Forwarder”.

The service status is shown in the top right corner of the tab. You should then be able to access the share in your file explorer under the name shown after “discoverable at”.
